This is a so-called minor release that also includes new functionalities for the various modules (Business & Document, Integrations and JOIN Customer Contact) and released at the end of September 2021. This minor release falls within the support of major version 2021.3. If you have not updated your JOIN Environment since the previous major release, you will find the intermediate minor updates in the wiki (https://wiki.decos.com/en/releasenotes).

Attention: from version 2021.5 Decos no longer creates a scan folder for every user (action 146920). We do this to relieve the pressure on the file server. In most cases your multifunctional (scanner) is capable of creating these scan source folders itself, but there are also scanners that cannot do this. In this case, we would like to ask you to create a ticket with our support team. Decos is working on a fix for this situation, we expect to deliver this fix in version 2021.11.
.NET: JOIN Case & Document 2021.9 requires version 4.8 of .NET
Search: for JOIN Case & Document the installation of Elastic Search is required. We support the versions supported by Elastic up to version 7.15
Databases: As of version 2021.3, support for MySQL has been discontinued. SQL Server and Oracle are supported. If you report a problem in JOIN Case & Document that is related to MySQL, this problem will no longer be solved.

Important: since version 2020.12, the following services have been included in the JOIN Background Service and thus become inactive:
- Decos JOIN Email Service (for sending and receiving mail)
- Decos JOIN ZTC Sync Service (for synchronization with JOIN Case types)
- Decos JOIN PDF Conversion Service (for the conversion of files to PDF)
You can remove or disable these services after installation of 2020.12. Since the software no longer takes the service into account, there will be no problem if you don’t.
If you do not use one of the above services in your test environment (for example, if you do not want emails to be sent from the test environment (to prevent data leaks, for example), then you must enter a background tasks server in the JOIN Config Editor or more of the following settings:
Background Service Email Service Tasks --> do not run set this if you do not want emails to be sent or received from the environment
Background Service PDF Conversion Tasks --> do not run set this if you don’t want files to be converted to PDF on the environment
Background Service ZTC Sync Service Tasks do not run set this if you don’t want case type data to be synced with the environment

The 2021.9 release contains a lot of improvements, such as:

Security improvements as a result of Pentest
A number of security issues were found during an external pen test. These necessary changes have been developed and will be available in version 2021.9. We strongly recommend installing this release on your test and production environment.
New ways of authenticating
We have been working on authenticating users based on SAML 2.0 and OpenID. In addition, we now support OAuth authentication in EWS (Office 365) for email. If you would like to know more about these methods of authentication, please contact your account manager.
