¶ Descriptions / Highlights
¶ Office 365 integration: JOIN 365!
In the past quarter, we worked hard on the integration with Office 365. This has become a powerful integration with which we have considerably expanded the functionalities of JOIN Business & Document and JOIN. And not unimportant to mention: with the new Office 365 integration you no longer need a JOIN Client at all !!!
¶ In Outlook and Outlook Online
With the new Office 365 integration you can do the following things from both Outlook and the browser version (Outlook Online):
- save mail, save attachments separately
- compose mail, attach files from JOIN and save directly in JOIN after sending.
The aforementioned functionalities are possible because we can use JOIN Now as a so-called Office add-in in Outlook. Since the add-in is also supported in the browser version of Outlook, you don’t even have to install Outlook on the PC anymore. An additional advantage is that the JOIN Now client no longer needs to be installed on your PC. This will also make the system administrator very happy, because he no longer has to distribute JOIN Now (and the associated registry settings) to all users.
Finally, we have been able to realize a wish cherished by many customers, namely that the JOIN Now window no longer freezes the underlying window (when you use the function from Outlook Online).

In addition to the integration with Outlook, the JOIN 365 integration also makes it possible to open, edit and save office files directly (without client software). Where the user can choose to open and edit the files in the online version (Office Online). Handy if you don’t have a full license for Office 365 and can only use the online versions of Office. Also useful if you are on the road and cannot access your own PC. Office Online works from the browser: you no longer need to open a desktop application to get started with the documents in JOIN.
In the interface of JOIN you have the option (in 4-frame mode) to display the Office files directly in the viewer.

¶ Actionable messages
Do you work a lot in Outlook and would you like to handle actions (from JOIN) directly from Office? This is now also possible in combination with Outlook 365. Tasks that you normally handle in JOIN (the work inventory), such as checklists and decisions, can now also be processed directly from your email. How? JOIN sends an email of every activity. In the email itself you will see the checklist and decision (or “regular” task) and you can also deal with it directly here.
The functionality, known at Microsoft as “actionable messages”, is available when you use Office 365 in combination with JOIN 365. You activate the function in the JOIN Config Editor

¶ Anonomization tool
In order to better meet all the requirements set in the privacy legislation (AVG), an anonymization function has been developed for JOIN Case & Document (this function is also available for JOIN Customer Contact).
With the JOIN Anonymization tool you as a (technical) administrator are able to completely anonymize personal information (names, telephone numbers, email addresses) that are contained in JOIN (eg address registrations, cases and documents).
Anonymisation is a good method to make ** personal data ** suitable for testing and / or analytical purposes. Anonymisation is valuable if you want to be able to work in a (partially or fully) equipped DTAP structure with relevant data in, for example, a test or acceptance environment, without this data being traceable to a person. Anonymization can also be valuable when an organization wants to retain data for analytical or statistical purposes, but the tracing back to individuals is no longer necessary or legitimate.
Note: Anonymization is a form of encryption that is not reversible: once personal data has been stripped of identifying data, it is no longer possible to associate it with people again later. We therefore strongly recommend that you do not use this tool on a production environment. You use the tool to copy a dataset from production to test / acceptance, whereby the personal data included in the dataset can no longer be traced.
After anonymization, you again fully comply with the requirements set by the GDPR. Anonymized data is no longer personal data according to the GDPR. Do remember to discuss the anonymization in advance with the GDPR officer in your organization.

We will continue to develop JOIN Search. More and more customers are using the powerful search solution within JOIN Case & Document and we receive many positive signals from end users, who find what they are looking for and are especially impressed by the speed of the solution offered. In 6.26 we continue to work on the solution:
- it is now possible for customers without a valid Search license to still use Elastic Search. The main difference between the free and paid version is the lack of filtering capabilities in the free version. In addition, future functionalities are only developed for the paid version by default. In addition, it is important to note that the new interface and JOIN Mobile will only use JOIN Search as a search function. If you are already using JOIN Search, nothing will change.
** PLEASE NOTE! ** If you do not have a JOIN Search yet, but would like to use it, please contact your account manager. To turn JOIN Search “on”, paid work is required by our technical consultants.
- From now on, lists in JOIN (content of, for example, business or addresses, work list) always use the optimized search index by default. That means:
- always a quick overview in a book
- fast and extensive filter options
- no limitations due to performance. Regardless of the content of a book, we always show it quickly. And while retaining all filter functionalities

¶ RestAPI
We have also expanded our API considerably in version 6.26. Not only to make JOIN Mobile (and the new desktop interface that we are working hard on) further functional, but also to connect other suppliers. Various integrations have now been developed and a number of them are on the way (including, for example, the connection to the signing software of Validsign and Zynyo).
In addition, and not unimportantly, we have considerably expanded the documentation of the API with version 6.26. For example, we have added extra explanations with all kinds of useful examples, so that you can develop an integration with the JOIN RestAPI even faster.
The documentation can be found in Swagger (the interface we use for the API). You can find the API by typing API behind the URL (behind / ASPX) of JOIN (with us https://zaaksysteem.meervoort.nl/aspx/api). You will then be taken directly to the right page:
You need a license to connect to the API. Please contact your account manager for this. In addition, we can facilitate training so that you can get even more out of the possibilities that our powerful API offers.
¶ Workflow designer
In version 6.25 we released a new designer. This designer (which no longer requires client software and can be used in all supported browsers) is based on HTML5 so that we can say goodbye to the Silverlight version.
Despite extensive testing prior to release, we have received reports from several customers about the new designer crashing when used in large workflows. This error turned out to be in the software that we used for this. Fortunately, the supplier of this software was able to help us quickly, so that we could implement the improvements before the release of version 6.26. A number of customers have tested the improved version and no longer reported new issues.
¶ JOIN Case Types
Earlier we informed you about a change in JOIN Case types: being able to select the user and user roles table in a case characteristic. In JOIN Case types you create a characteristic for this and choose “Users” or “User roles” from the list of available tables.

¶ JOIN Now
In JOIN Now it is possible to save several mails at the same time. We have redeveloped this functionality:
If you choose the option “save all mails in the same registration”, all mail messages will be stored in 1 registration. The description, date and e-mail addresses from the first e-mail are taken over in the registration.
If you choose the option “make a separate registration for each mail”, each mail will receive its own document registration. If you leave the description, date etc empty when registering, we will take it from the mail. With this we ensure that every registration neatly contains the data of the e-mail.
You can of course also choose to save the attachments with the e-mail separately. Use the option “save the entire mail (including) attachments and the attachments separately” for this.
