When several organizations work together in 1 business system, the distinction in organization can be configured by the competent authority. In JOIN Case Types you can configure this as follows:
- Go to the menu item “Authority”
- Create a registration for each competent authority. Enter both a code and description. This is important because the case system needs both.

- When the ‘competent authority’ field is left empty for the case type, a choice must be made per case (in JOIN Case)
- When the “competent authority” field is filled in for the case type, this is fixed for all cases of this case type
