A thesaurus is a controlled keyword list in which the mutual relationships between the keywords are indicated. In Decos Admin you can create thesaurus terms to divide documents into specific categories. For a user who may not know the correct term (preferred term), it is possible to link another (non-preferred) term. If a user chooses a non-preferred term, the preferred term is linked in the background so that your documents are cataloged uniformly.
You can compile a thesaurus in Decos Admin. The following explains the ways in which you can work with thesaurus terms.

As an application manager, you can indicate that the thesaurus term is a preferred term. A user who does not know the correct term (preferred term) can enter another (non-preferred) term. If a non-preferred term is chosen, the preferred term will be linked in the background so that your documents are still uniformly cataloged.
Example: a user enters the non-preferred term Job market. The preferred term Job Mediation is automatically selected.
You can do this as follows:
If the new term is a preferred term, check the Preferred term.
Click the Link button behind the field.
In the screen that appears, select the term (s) that should refer to this preferred term. Place a check mark in front of these term (s) and click OK. The non-preferred term is displayed in the field. In the case of a non-preferred term, the tree structure automatically indicates that it is linked to the new term.
If you made a wrong choice, the link can be undone by ticking the word and pressing the Unlink button. The link is then immediately canceled.
Click on Save in the toolbar.
Related terms indicate relationships between terms, for example, to find documents with the terms “Riding Schools” and “Equestrian Sports” alternately linked in one search. Relationships can only be established between Preferred Terms. If you choose a non-preferred term, you cannot indicate relationships.
A scope note is a description of the possible uses of a thesaurus term. This description provides the end user with more information about the application of this term. For example: the thesaurus term Coercive drugs has been added as scope note: In criminal law.
How to change a thesaurus term:
To delete a thesaurus term, proceed as follows:
If you no longer want to make a thesaurus available for adding terms, for example because a new thesaurus is being taken into use, you can indicate this with the relevant thesaurus.
The table can no longer be used to link terms, but it can still be used to search for registrations to which terms from this thesaurus are linked.
You can import an existing thesaurus into Decos Admin. This can be the widely used VNG thesaurus, but also a self-made thesaurus.
You can import the basic archive code / thesaurus terms of the VNG from the official CD.
In the Navigation, select Application Manager -> Thesaurus.
Select the VNG thesaurus in the Center.
Click Import in the toolbar.
In the screen that appears, select the location of the CD.
File: Import VNG.png
In the field Thesaurus enter the name VNG thesaurus.
Check:
Click on Import. This may take some time.
Click on Save in the toolbar.
You can import an existing or self-created thesaurus from a text file by reading it as a “tab-separated list”. The text file, made in MS Word or almost any other arbitrary word processor, must be structured in such a way that an extra tab is added to the list for each thesaurus level. Terms on the first sub-level are preceded by one tab, those on the second level by two tabs, and so on.
Example:

The file name for this text file is irrelevant, as long as it is a type .TXT file.
By importing a thesaurus you overwrite the existing thesaurus. If you want to import a file while retaining the existing terms, this is possible. In this case, make sure that the import file includes a column with column header KEY. Here you put the value that you want to use as a key. If there is a registration in the thesaurus with the same value as in the KEY field of your file, the registration will be updated instead of created. Is this column name not used? Then every CSV record is added as new in the source file.
